Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor for a secondary school in Barnsley. You will supervise classes in the absence of teachers, follow lesson plans and help pupils stay focused and engaged throughout the school day.

The role offers a long-term, flexible schedule (full-time or part-time) and immediate start. Ideal candidates will have strong classroom management, good communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Qualifications

• Strong classroom management and communication skills required.
• Willingness to support pupils with learning and behaviour in a school setting.
• Experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a school environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson activities and ensure pupils remain on task.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school expectations.
• Support pupils with their learning and encourage positive participation.
• Maintain a calm, safe and orderly classroom environment.
• Report any significant behaviour or learning concerns to staff.
• Follow school policies and procedures throughout the day.
