Job summary

Empowering Learning Group in Darlington is seeking enthusiastic Cover Support staff to join our expanding team across local secondary schools. You will deliver pre-prepared lessons, manage a positive learning environment and support teachers when absences occur.

Ideal candidates have classroom leadership experience, are reliable and able to build positive relationships with students. An Enhanced DBS on Update Service is preferred, or you must be willing to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a classroom or group of students.
• Reliable, professional, and able to build positive student relationships.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to provide professional references covering recent years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans across all subjects.
• Take class registers at the start of lessons.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Encourage student engagement and focus.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff after each lesson.

Empowering Learning Group is working with a number of fantastic Secondary Schools across the local area and is looking for enthusiastic, confident, and reliable Cover Support staff to join our growing team.

Whether you're an experienced Cover Support or someone with previous classroom leadership experience, we'd love to hear from you!

The Role

As Cover Support, you'll play a vital role in keeping learning on track when teachers are absent. You'll deliver pre-planned lessons, maintain a positive learning environment, and use your confidence and classroom management skills to engage students and ensure lessons run smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans across all subjects.


• Taking the class register at the start of each lesson.


• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.


• Encouraging students to stay engaged and focused.


• Providing feedback to teaching staff after each lesson.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should:

• Have experience leading a classroom or group of young people.


• Be confident, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students.


• Be reliable, professional, and organised.


• Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to purchase one.


• Be able to provide professional references covering the last two years.
