Job summary

Outwood Academy Ormesby is seeking a dynamic Second in Department to provide cohesive leadership and motivating direction within the faculty. This role supports the Head of Department in strategies to enhance learning, teaching, and student achievement.

As a model of the Academy’s vision, you will advocate best practice and foster a collaborative approach to curricular development, with emphasis on data use and professional growth for staff.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead a department and drive improvement.
• Strong data literacy to analyse and report departmental performance.
• Experience in designing Schemes of Work and advancing curriculum development.
• Experience delivering bespoke CPD and coaching to colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain DEEP leadership to raise attainment using departmental data.
• Devise, implement and monitor Schemes of Work to ensure progression for all students.
• Lead on behaviour standards, classroom management, and professional practice coaching.
• Coordinate planning and execution of Immersion Days and integration of ICT in the curriculum.
• Provide high-quality reports and analysis to support Ofsted readiness.
