Job summary

Consett Academy is seeking an inspirational Second in Department for Science to lead and develop our science provision. You will work with the Head of Department to shape strategy, drive standards and ensure high-quality teaching and clear progression for students.

This leadership role is ideal for a committed classroom practitioner with energy to motivate colleagues, implement curriculum improvements and monitor impact. A four-month induction period is provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent and enthusiastic Science teacher with a strong track record of supporting student progress and achievement.
• Highly organised, collaborative and ambitious with the ability to motivate students and colleagues.
• Willing to take leadership responsibilities and develop the Science department.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Department in driving improvement and raising standards across Science.
• Lead key areas of the curriculum and contribute to curriculum development.
• Promote consistently high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
• Use student progress information effectively to identify priorities and support intervention.
• Lead and support departmental CPD, sharing excellent practice with colleagues.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance across the department.
• Support colleagues to develop their practice and achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
