Job summary

Consett Academy is seeking an inspirational Second in Department for Science to support leadership and development of the Science department. This role is an exciting step for an excellent classroom practitioner committed to raising achievement and eager to develop leadership experience.

You will work closely with the Head of Department to shape Science across the academy, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning and challenging every student to reach their best.

Qualifications

• Excellent classroom practitioner who is passionate about their subject, committed to raising achievement and keen to develop their leadership experience.
• You will shape the direction of Science across the academy, supporting high-quality teaching and learning so every student is challenged and supported to achieve their best.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Department in driving improvement and raising standards across Science.
• Lead key areas of the curriculum and contribute to curriculum development.
• Promote consistently high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
• Use student progress information to identify priorities and support intervention.
• Lead and support departmental CPD, sharing best practice with colleagues.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance across the department.
• Support colleagues to develop their practice and achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
