The Role

Are you ready to inspire and lead? At Co-op Swinton, we are seeking a dynamic Second in Department for Mathematics to guide curriculum, foster collaboration, and elevate student outcomes! As part of Co-op Academies Trust, you will have the opportunity to innovate, inspire, and raise achievement levels across the school while working within a supportive leadership team.

Our aim is to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. We are looking to appoint a second in department who shares our vision for an ambitious yet supportive and nurturing learning environment and curriculum. We focus on academic success and take pride in our students' behaviour, aiming for high achievement in an environment based on rewards rather than sanctions. Our caring and experienced pastoral team support students throughout their secondary school journey, and you will embody our vision, values, and professional standards.

Why us?

Our academy caters to pupils aged 11-16. We are easily accessible from all areas of the North West, with Swinton train station less than a 5-minute walk. We have a dedicated team that builds positive relationships and fosters a caring culture, as reflected in our recent Ofsted inspection (June 2024), where we were graded 'Good' in all areas.

All our values are based on the Co-op Group values, which guide our behaviours:

  • Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon-fed; we try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
  • Self-responsibility: Everyone acts responsibly on the academy site and in the community. We take responsibility for our own learning to become independent learners.
  • Equality: We celebrate our multicultural environment, respecting differences and ensuring equal opportunities for success.
  • Equity: We recognize and reward individual achievements fairly to encourage all achievements.
  • Democracy: We contribute ideas to make the academy successful.
  • Solidarity: We work together to achieve more than alone.

Our Values

Guided by the Co-op values, we demonstrate:

  • Succeed together
  • Do what matters most
  • Be yourself, always
  • Show you care

If you share our values, we would love to hear from you!
