Job summary

Meallmore seeks a Second Chef (Maternity Cover) to support our catering team at Greenan Manor, Doonfoot near Ayr. The role focuses on planning and preparing home-cooked meals tailored to each resident’s dietary needs, under guidance of the Head Chef.

You will help train care teams on textures and safety, ensure high hygiene standards, and contribute to menu development that reflects residents’ preferences and enjoyment.

Qualifications

• Strong cookery skills and ability to create nutritious meals for residents.
• Personal and warm approach with residents.
• Ability to meet deadlines and plan meals for residents.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef to plan and prepare meals reflecting residents' dietary requirements.
• Provide guidance and training to care teams on textured food options and safety.
• Comply with quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Located in the coastal village of Doonfoot, near Ayr, Greenan Manor is a purpose- built 52- bed care home providing residential, nursing, dementia, respite and palliative care for the elderly. Salary: £13.80 per hour

Hours: 40hours per week

Role & Responsibilities

• Support the Head chef to organise, plan and prepare meals ensuring that all home cooked food not only looks and tastes delicious but also reflects the preferences and dietary requirements of each resident
• Working alongside the Head Chef in providing guidance and training to care teams on understanding and implementing safe and appropriate textured food options for residents, ensuring compliance with dietary standards
• Comply with industry and Meallmore quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards
• You will be involved in menu development, tailoring around resident’s needs, likes and dislikes to ensure we deliver person-centred hospitality

• Strong cookery skills and creativity in preparing home cooked nutritious meals for our residents
• A personal and warm approach with a genuine interest of the well-being of our residents
• Ability to work to deadlines meeting the needs of the residents
• Great communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of food safety practices
• Knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs and food allergies is desirable but not essential
• A culinary qualification is desirable but not essential
