Your role as Second Chef
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Chef to join our team at the University of Nottingham. Based on our award-winning University Park campus you will work within the kitchens of our student Halls of Residence. You will be required to assist and deputise for the Head Chef to manage the kitchen and dining room team and associated operations, often working independently ensuring the preparation and service of a high quality and consistent product for resident students during term time and conference guests during vacation periods. Duties will also include the preparation of food for high profile events including formal dinners and weddings for up to 350 people whilst ensuring all relevant Food Safety documentation is completed.
Candidates should be qualified to 706 1/ 2 or NVQ 1/2 in Food Production, or have substantial relevant experience gained within a similar large scale catering environment. You will have excellent cooking skills and considerable supervisory experience. Knowledge of a range of Microsoft Office products and experience of stock management are also essential for this role.

What’s in it for you
Hours of work are 36.25 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 to be arranged mainly between the hours 11.15am and 7.30pm for 52 weeks of the year including regular weekends. Flexibility to work a range of shifts will be required.
Please note occasionally there might be a need for an earlier shift between 6.00am-2.15pm and during special events due to business needs the hours of work might slightly differ with shifts finishing at 10.00pm. Job share arrangements may be considered.
