Matalan is seeking an Assistant Designer to support seasonal ranges and take day-to-day ownership of defined product areas. You will translate trends into commercially relevant product, collaborating with Designers, Buying and Merchandising to build balanced assortments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Trainee or Junior Designer.
• Experience across short to long timelines in a fast-paced omni-channel retail environment.
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to use design software (Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, AI).
• Strong communication to stakeholders and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support development of seasonal ranges and balance new ideas with core product.
• Collaborate with Designers, Buying and Merchandising to build balanced assortments.
• Assist product development through supply base, focusing on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Attend selection, sign-off, and fit sessions as needed.
• Analyse trade performance to inform future ranges.
• End-to-end product mindset from concept to store execution.
