Job summary

Matalan in the United Kingdom is seeking a Junior Merchandiser to manage a product range from start to finish, coordinating with suppliers and the Buying teams to land the range with close support from the Merchandiser.

The role involves preparing seasonal buying plans, setting KPIs, developing a commercial range, and coaching trainees. Permanent and temporary roles are available, with a staff discount and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Preparation of seasonal buying plans and budgets through thorough analysis of the range’s historical data, understanding future trends and activities.
• Set and agree core KPI’s for the range with the respective Junior Buyer/Buyer in terms of sales, stock turnover and margins.
• Develop a commercial range within a framework and establish stock intake plans and stock covers.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a particular product range from beginning to end and manage supplier relationships.
• Land the range successfully with close support from the Merchandiser of the department.
• Coach and develop trainees and assistants within the team.
• Ensure final range meets targets and deliver the range jointly with the Junior Buyer/Buyer.
