Job summary

Supreme Recruitment is sourcing HGV Class 2 Winter Gritter Drivers for Kent operations from 1 October to 1 April. You will join a winter maintenance team, keeping roads safe during frost, ice and snow and working on a rotating standby/call-out basis.

The role includes guaranteed standby payments of £175 per week during paid weeks and £20 per hour for actual call-outs, with variations for standby cycles. Prior gritting or highways experience is beneficial, but the right HGV experience is

Qualifications

• HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence and valid Driver CPC.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Reliable and flexible with ability to respond to winter call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Drive an HGV gritting vehicle on designated routes across Kent.
• Spread salt and grit to prevent ice on the highway network.
• Respond to winter weather call-outs (frost, ice and snow).
• Complete vehicle and safety checks before deployment.
• Follow predetermined gritting routes and operating instructions.
• Work closely with the depot and highways operations team.
• Complete required vehicle and operational documentation.
• Maintain high standards of road and public safety.
