Job summary

Reed Technology is recruiting a Scrum Master for a leading UK organisation embarking on a major technology transformation programme focused on modern digital platforms. The role is based in the Midlands with hybrid working, initial 3 months on a daily rate of £350-450 outside IR35.

You will facilitate all Agile ceremonies, coach teams, remove blockers and collaborate with Product Owners, engineers and QA to drive delivery, quality and Agile maturity across two workstreams: Backend & Integration

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Scrum Master in software development.
• Strong knowledge of Agile and Scrum principles.
• Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies for technical delivery teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage risks, dependencies and impediments.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all Agile ceremonies (planning, daily, reviews, retros, backlog refinement).
• Serve as a servant leader coaching teams on Agile and Scrum.
• Support continuous improvement of Agile delivery processes.
• Identify and remove blockers to ensure effective sprint delivery.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Engineers and QA to manage priorities.
• Monitor sprint progress, velocity and delivery metrics.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
• Maintain transparency around risks, issues and delivery challenges.
• Support onboarding of new team members as the programme scales.

REED Technology are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK organisation embarking on a major technology transformation programme focused on building and integrating modern digital platforms.

The project has recently commenced, with a small core team already in place consisting of senior technical specialists responsible for backend services, platform integration, and solution delivery. As the programme scales, a Scrum Master is required to establish and embed Agile best practices, support delivery teams, and help drive successful project outcomes.

This is an opportunity to join a programme at an early stage and play a key role in shaping delivery processes, team collaboration, and Agile maturity.

The programme consists of two primary workstreams:

Backend & Integration

• Large-scale integration of multiple business platforms and services.
• Significant API and middleware development activity.
• Existing technical leadership already in place.
• Additional engineering and integration resources being added as the programme grows.

Front-End Delivery

• Development of modern user-facing applications.
• Potential growth of the front-end team as the project evolves.
• Collaboration across multiple technical disciplines.

The organisation is also adopting AI-assisted software engineering practices, utilising modern development tools to accelerate delivery and improve productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate all Agile and Scrum ceremonies, including:
  • Sprint Planning
  • Daily Stand-ups
  • Sprint Reviews
  • Sprint Retrospectives
  • Backlog Refinement
• Act as a servant leader, coaching team members on Agile principles and Scrum best practices.
• Support the creation and continuous improvement of Agile delivery processes.
• Identify and remove blockers to ensure effective sprint delivery.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Technical Leads, Engineers, QA and stakeholders to manage priorities and dependencies.
• Monitor sprint progress, team velocity and delivery metrics.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
• Ensure transparency around risks, issues and delivery challenges.
• Support the onboarding and integration of new team members as the programme scales.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working as a Scrum Master within software development environments.
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and Scrum methodologies.
• Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies for technical delivery teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience managing delivery risks, dependencies and impediments.
• Ability to work effectively within fast-paced and evolving project environments.
• Strong coaching and facilitation capabilities.

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting integration-heavy technology programmes.
• Previous involvement in digital transformation initiatives.
• Exposure to modern software engineering practices.
• Experience working with distributed or growing Agile teams.
• Understanding of AI-assisted software development environments.
• Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or equivalent certification.
