Glasgow City, Scotland | up to £130,000 per annum + excellent benefits | Permanent

A growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Private Client Tax Director or Partner to join its expanding tax consultancy practice in Glasgow.

This is an opportunity for a senior tax professional to take a leading role in managing established client relationships, delivering complex tax advisory services and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

Working alongside an established team, you will combine technical expertise and client relationship management with responsibility for overseeing client engagements, managing workflow and developing new business. The position offers scope to influence the direction of the practice while building long-term relationships with privately owned businesses and their owners.

THE ROLE
  • Act as the principal tax relationship contact for a portfolio of existing clients, developing trusted and long-term relationships.

  • Oversee the delivery and prioritisation of client engagements, ensuring work is allocated effectively and deadlines are met.

  • Establish clear scopes of work and budgets for each engagement, agreeing the nature of the services and anticipated fees with clients before work begins.

  • Monitor engagement progress, maintaining effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the process.

  • Ensure client work is delivered in line with agreed scopes, budgets, quality standards and internal procedures.

  • Conduct completion discussions with clients, identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships and secure further referrals.

  • Lead individual business development activities to support personal and team revenue targets.

  • Identify opportunities to expand the firm's tax consultancy offering and develop additional work from existing relationships.

  • Support colleagues in delivering high-quality tax advice and maintaining consistent professional standards.

  • Contribute to the continued development of the tax practice through technical expertise, relationship management and commercial leadership.

  • Maintain compliance with relevant risk management procedures and professional standards.

YOUR BACKGROUND

You will be an established private client tax professional with strong technical credentials, commercial awareness and the confidence to manage senior client relationships.

You are likely to demonstrate:

  • CTA qualification or an equivalent professional qualification.

  • Experience operating at Director, Partner or equivalent senior level within a professional services environment.

  • Strong expertise in private client tax advisory work and the ability to provide practical, high-quality advice.

  • A track record of managing client portfolios and developing long-term client relationships.

  • Experience overseeing engagements, including scope, budgeting, workflow, fee management and delivery.

  • Commercial acumen and a proactive approach to business development, referrals and achieving revenue targets.

  • Recognition as a knowledgeable and credible adviser within your area of expertise.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.

  • A commitment to professional standards, risk management and continuous development.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role offers the opportunity to take a significant position within an expanding tax consultancy practice, combining technical advisory work with client leadership and commercial responsibility.

You will have the opportunity to develop existing relationships, contribute to the growth of the practice and work alongside colleagues who value professional standards, trusted relationships and high-quality advice.

The package includes competitive remuneration, a range of employee benefits, support for continuing professional development and a flexible working policy.
