Glasgow | Up to £80,000 + Benefits | Hybrid Working
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Private Client Tax professional to take a lead role within a major national firm’s Glasgow practice, assuming responsibility for an established private client portfolio while playing a central role in developing the business across Scotland.
This is much more than a portfolio management position.
The successful candidate will become a key senior figure within the Glasgow tax team, leading the delivery of high-quality private client advice while actively identifying and developing new advisory opportunities from both existing and prospective clients.
You will take ownership of a varied portfolio incorporating business owners, entrepreneurs, trustees and high net worth individuals, acting as a trusted adviser and identifying opportunities to provide broader and more sophisticated tax advice.
The work will be genuinely advisory-led and could include areas such as:
You will also provide senior-level oversight of the compliance work delivered by the wider tax compliance team, allowing you to concentrate increasingly on client relationships, advisory work and business development.
A major attraction of this position is the opportunity to have a genuine influence over the continued development of the Glasgow private client offering.
You will be encouraged to lead from the front on business development, working closely with colleagues across the wider firm to uncover opportunities.
This will include attending meetings and developing opportunities alongside the Glasgow Corporate Tax Partner, working collaboratively with the Financial Planning team, and building relationships across other service lines.
Importantly, you will also have the autonomy and support to develop your own external network, originate new relationships and help bring new private client work into the firm.
For someone who enjoys the commercial side of professional practice, this provides the opportunity to build something rather than simply inherit and maintain a portfolio.
We are keen to speak with experienced Private Client Tax professionals currently operating at Senior Manager or Associate Director level, or individuals with equivalent experience who are ready for a broader leadership role.
You will ideally combine:
You do not need to arrive with a ready-made book of business. What matters is having the technical credibility, relationship-building skills and commercial ambition to develop one.
You will be joining a highly regarded Scottish tax team while benefiting from the resources, expertise and opportunities that come with being part of a substantial national and international professional services firm.
There is also genuine longer-term progression potential. For someone who performs well, develops the Glasgow portfolio and demonstrates their ability to originate and grow work, there is scope to progress to Director and potentially beyond.
