Offer Description

About the role

We are looking for an experienced in vivo scientist to play a central role in the execution and development of our preclinical mouse studies.

Working closely with our in vivo team, you will take responsibility for the practical delivery of studies across dosing, biodistribution, tissue collection, histology and behavioural assessment. Our animal work is conducted at an off-site vivarium in London, where you will help establish and maintain rigorous, reproducible experimental workflows.

This is a highly hands-on scientific role. You will execute complex in vivo studies, troubleshoot experimental procedures, ensure appropriate controls and documentation, and contribute to the interpretation of resulting datasets. You will also work with the wider scientific team to refine methods and ensure that animal studies are aligned with the broader objectives of the programme.

The quality and reproducibility of our in vivo data are critical to programme progression. You will therefore play an important role in ensuring that studies are conducted to high scientific, ethical and regulatory standards, and that the resulting samples and datasets are suitable for downstream analysis and decision-making.

The role would suit a scientist with strong practical expertise in rodent experimentation who is methodical, technically confident and comfortable taking substantial ownership of study execution within a multidisciplinary research environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Run mouse studies, including dosing by intravenous and intracerebral routes
  • Carry out biodistribution studies, collecting tissue across multiple organs
  • Process tissue and deliver the histological endpoints
  • Carry out the behavioural assessments that support each study
  • Keep the animal work well documented, well controlled and compliant

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Hold a PhD in immunology or a related field, such as bioscience or cell biology. Exceptional candidates with a Master's degree and equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Hold a current UK Home Office personal licence (PIL A/B/C)
  • Have personally dosed mice and collected tissue within the last two years
  • Are experienced in mouse handling and regulated in vivo procedures
  • Do your own perfusions and immunohistochemistry
  • Have run behavioural assays in rodents

Strong candidates may also have experience with:

  • Dissociating tissue and analysing it by flow cytometry
  • Culturing primary neurons
  • qPCR biodistribution analysis
  • Bioluminescence imaging (IVIS)
  • Working in an off-site or contract vivarium

Salary and other benefits

Highly competitive salary and pension contribution, alongside a wellness and lifestyle package that includes support towards gym membership and living close to the lab. All employees participate in the company share option scheme.
