QUEENS UNIVERSITY BELFAST invites applications for a position to provide specialist technical expertise in a translational cancer research program focused on therapy resistance and lineage plasticity in prostate cancer.

The successful candidate will coordinate and carry out complex experimental studies using mouse models under the direction of the PI and research staff, and will oversee day-to-day organisation of the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • ONC/OND or NVQ Level 3 in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related subject.
  • Personal Licence under the UK Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA), or willingness to obtain one immediately upon appointment.
  • Significant laboratory experience including working with mouse models in regulated animal research environments.
  • Experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, IHC/IF, WB, IP.

About the Person

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • ONC/OND or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related subject.
  • Personal Licence under the UK Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA), or willingness and eligibility to obtain one immediately upon appointment*. *A Personal Licence is required to fulfil the requirements of the job therefore it will be essential to obtain this to pass the probationary period for the post.
  • Significant laboratory experience to include:
    • Working with mouse models in academic or industry research settings.
    • Experience working within regulated animal research environments.
    • In vivo cancer biology studies
  • Experience with a range of molecular techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, IHC/ IF, WB, IP etc.

Fixed-term contract (available for 36 months or until 31 August 2029 whichever is soonest). Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
