Job description

Job Title: Microbiology Specialist - Biopharma Lab

This role involves working 36 hours a week, Thursday to Monday, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Within our Research & Development department, which is science-led and results-driven, the Microbiology Specialty Biopharma lab conducts a wide range of analytical analyses for food, pharmaceutical, and healthcare companies to support research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform practical laboratory work with supervisory responsibilities to ensure projects are supervised effectively and accurately.
2. Focus on routine and investigative analysis of products using techniques such as bioburdens, total viable aerobic count, endotoxins, and environmental monitoring.
3. Train junior team members and provide client contact and administrative support for lab management.
4. Maintain laboratory instruments and systems, including checking and approving supplier reports (qualifications, repairs, and preventative maintenance).

Candidate Requirements:

• PhD or Degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Good understanding of lab equipment and scientific principles.
• Ability to independently conduct chemical analyses in relevant areas.
• Adaptability to meet customer and business requirements.
• Ability to handle multiple activities with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
