KeyResponsibilities
- Conductsroutine assays(both manually and using liquid-handling robots)and data processing to high quality within specifiedtime frames. to tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates ability to use scientific knowledge in safety toxicity assessment in data analysis,interpretationand troubleshooting.
- Proactively and continuallyidentifiesimprovement opportunities within the group’s processes and assays. Supports senior scientists in the team to review and action anyappropriate improvements
- Supports senior team members with assay development,validationand bespoke assays, driving forward any projects involved in, working closely with the Information Systems teams whererequired
- Coaches and mentors associate scientists and other colleagues within the team on assay execution and data analysis
- Follow safety regulations and quality control procedures
- To ensure that all errors anderroneousresults are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a BSc in a life sciences discipline, with hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, including direct experience in cell-based and/or toxicology assays.
- Strong foundational knowledge of laboratory operations and processes, with the ability to work effectively within a semi-automated, high-throughput environment while maintaining data quality and turnaround expectations
- Essential: Proven, hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture techniques, with the ability to independently maintain, passage, and assay cells to a high standard. Cell culture is a core component (~50%) of the role and underpins all assay delivery
- Demonstrated experience with cell-based analytical platforms, such as high-content imaging systems, flow cytometry, and/or Seahorse analysers, including data acquisition and interpretation
- Proven experience in the use of liquid handling and laboratory automation systems, e.g. Multidrop, Bravo, Viaflo or equivalent platforms, with an understanding of their role in assay reproducibility and scalability
- Strong operational mindset, with a focus on delivering consistent, high-quality data within short turnaround times, and the ability to identify, implement, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Solid understanding of data integrity, documentation standards, and adherence to SOPs.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot assays, instrumentation, and cell-based systems efficiently to minimise impact on delivery timelines.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands, and contribute effectively within a team-focused environment.
