Job Summary

Our manufacturing site in Keele is offering an opportunity for a Scientist. Reporting to the Downstream Senior Scientist, the Scientist will be responsible for the planning and execution of analytical assays to support in-house and contracted programmes within the MSAT team, and the development or transfer of analytical methods as assigned. The scientist will also support wider processing activities within the MSAT team (upstream, downstream, and molecular biology).

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Contribute to project planning and technology transfers by estimating required resources and schedules.
  2. Execute and complete assigned programmes of work, ensuring timely delivery.
  3. Interpret data and communicate results effectively through verbal and written reports.
  4. Assess the impact and relevance of data to process development or production.
  5. Ensure all operations are performed after appropriate training, with documentation maintained and updated regularly.
  6. Assist in the transfer and development of new techniques or processes within the MSAT team and other areas.
  7. Generate study plans, technical reports, SOPs, and Batch Records as assigned.
  8. Participate in project teams and report work in meetings.
  9. Maintain high standards in laboratory notebooks and documentation as per company policies.
  10. Work within multidisciplinary teams across all areas of the Process Development Group.
  11. Provide training to less experienced staff in techniques where competency has been attained.
  12. Lead the execution of projects, process runs, and unit operations within their skill area.
  13. Participate in and lead investigation teams as required.
Skills and Experience
  1. A degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or equivalent scientific qualification.
  2. Practical laboratory or process experience in an academic or industrial setting.
  3. Strong organizational, planning, and contingency skills.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  5. Practical expertise in their area of specialization, with high levels of organization and planning.
