Job Summary

Our manufacturing site in Keele offers an opportunity for a Scientist.

Reporting to the Downstream Senior Scientist, the Scientist will plan and execute analytical assays supporting both in-house and contracted programs within the MSAT team, and develop or transfer analytical methods as assigned. The role also involves supporting broader processing activities within the MSAT team, including upstream, downstream, and molecular biology processes.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Contributing to project planning and technology transfers by estimating resources and schedules.
  • Executing and completing assigned programs of work, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Interpreting data and communicating results effectively.
  • Assessing data impact and relevance to process development or production.
  • Performing operations and procedures after appropriate training, maintaining training records.
  • Assisting in the transfer/development of new techniques within the MSAT team and other departments.
  • Generating study plans, technical reports, SOPs, and Batch Records.
  • Participating in project teams and reporting work in meetings.
  • Maintaining laboratory notebooks and documentation to high standards as per Charles River policies.
  • Working within multidisciplinary teams across the Process Development Group.
  • Providing training to less experienced staff.
  • Leading project execution, process runs, and unit operations within their expertise using a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participating in and leading investigation teams when required.

Skills and Experience:

  • A degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or an equivalent scientific qualification.
  • Practical laboratory or process experience in an academic or industrial setting.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and contingency skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven practical skills and competency in their area of expertise.
