As a Scientist at Leica Biosystems, you’ll operate in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve based on customer needs, business demands, and portfolio strategy. You’ll contribute across a broad range of project types and development stages—from early discovery through optimisation, validation, and transfer—adapting your focus to where the organisation needs your expertise most.
This position reports to an R&D Manager and is part of the Research and Development team located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, working fully on-site. As a team that has recently been awarded Danaher’s Best Plant, you’ll be joining a group recognised for outstanding execution, innovation, and impact.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Work on several high priority projects and gain insight from others.
  • Become part of a team responsible for the generation of data for a specific project you are assigned to.
  • Learn how to design, perform and interpret experiments on the automated staining instrumentation.
  • Be part of a wider R&D organisation, gaining exposure to a variety of different project types.
  • Learn and implement the process of developing products within a regulatory environment.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
  • At least a year working within a laboratory environment or have experience working within a laboratory gained within Higher Education studies.
  • Possess a Degree in a scientific subject.
  • Understanding of immunohistochemistry (IHC), cancer biology or antibody technology.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Experience of Immunohistochemistry (IHC).
  • Experience of working within a regulated environment
  • Experience of medical/in vitro diagnostic device development.
