Job summary

Leica Biosystems in Newcastle upon Tyne seeks a Financial Compliance Analyst to uphold the integrity of global financial reporting and the control environment. You will lead balance sheet reviews across legal entities to ensure accuracy and adherence to US GAAP and corporate policies.

The role reports to the Senior Manager Controlling and is on‑site. You will partner with local finance teams, support audits, and drive remediation of control deficiencies while enhancing processes and training on

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in financial accounting, financial compliance, internal controls, audit, or corporate governance.
  • Experience supporting external or internal audits.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global balance sheet review process across Leica Biosystems legal entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
  • Oversee the SOX compliance programme, ensuring all control activities are executed, documented, and completed within required deadlines.
  • Act as the primary compliance business partner for local finance teams, providing guidance on accounting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Support internal audits by advising local teams on information requests and ensuring prompt resolution of audit findings.
  • Monitor, track, and drive remediation of control deficiencies and compliance risks through to successful closure.
  • Develop, standardise, and enhance financial processes and internal controls to improve consistency, efficiency, and compliance across legal entities.
  • Design and deliver training programs and educational materials on SOX, financial controls, and compliance best practices.

The Financial Compliance Analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity of Leica Biosystems' financial reporting and control environment. The role is responsible for overseeing the global balance sheet review process across multiple legal entities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Danaher policies, and SOX requirements.

This position reports to the Senior Manager Controlling and is part of the Global Corporate Team located in Newcastle upon Tyne and will be an on‑site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Lead the global balance sheet review process across Leica Biosystems legal entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
  • Oversee the Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance programme, ensuring all control activities are executed, documented, and completed within required deadlines.
  • Act as the primary compliance business partner for local finance teams, providing guidance on accounting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Support internal audits by advising local teams on information requests and ensuring prompt resolution of audit findings.
  • Monitor, track, and drive remediation of control deficiencies and compliance risks through to successful closure.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
  • Professional qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is essential.
  • Significant experience in financial accounting, financial compliance, internal controls, audit, or corporate governance.
  • Experience supporting external or internal audits.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
  • This role shall be based at Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
  • Travel expectations within this role are international (15%)
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Knowledge and experience of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).
  • SAP or comparable ERP system experience.
  • Experience working within a multinational organisation with multiple legal entities.
