Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead multi‑writer projects, resourcing and reviewing scientific communications
- Demonstrate high scientific and commercial knowledge to guide other team members
- Oversee content across complex projects and therapy areas
- Ensure scientific quality and compliance with internal processes and best practices
- Produce client‑ready deliverables on schedule
- Provide feedback on scientific components of budget development
- Communicate important medical/regulatory milestones and link them to potential business opportunities
- Submit time and expenses by deadlines using appropriate job codes
Strategic Mindset
- Serve as scientific lead on assigned accounts, delivering strategic direction
- Partner with client services teams in strategic planning and account management
- Explain therapeutic and scientific concepts to colleagues, clients and external experts, adapting language as needed
- Maintain an overview of the ‘big picture’ while managing details
Business Development
- Participate in business development initiatives and collaborate with the BD team on proposals and pitches
- Cross‑sell services to clients, understanding their business strategy
- Identify opportunities for account growth and cross‑selling
Collaboration and Building Relationships
- Establish and lead scientific relationships with clients, medical experts and third parties
- Facilitate collaboration between Omnicom Health Med Comms, client teams and medical experts
Building Effective Teams
- Share industry knowledge across teams and therapy areas
- Guide decision‑making, writing style, content inclusion, and data interpretation
- Oversee junior scientific staff, delegate responsibilities, and provide growth opportunities
- Deliver constructive feedback and support peer learning
- Provide line management and collaborate with HR on performance issues
- Support team members' strategic development and professional growth
- Take responsibility for the account team’s therapy area expertise
- Deliver group presentations and coaching sessions
- Seek continuous learning and professional development opportunities
- Perform tasks beyond the basic job description when business needs arise
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree in a relevant science subject or 6+ years writing in a medical communications agency or similar environment
- Independent writing across various medical communications media
- Previous line‑management experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent command of written and verbal English
Desirable
- Experience in a medical communications agency or industry
- Interest in developing scientific expertise across therapy areas
- Business development experience, including live pitches
- Availability to travel as required
