Overview

Specialist Science Tutor
Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group Science Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and are commutable to the Oldham area area.

The Opportunity
As a Science Tutor, we are looking for someone to work with a Year 11 learner in the Oldham area to support with his upcoming Science GCSE exams. He is on roll with a local school so support will be required on the weekends in the morning.

• Location: Oldham
• Position: Science Tutor

• Start date: ASAP
• Setting: Either within the student’s home or in the community (learning hub/library)
• Duration: Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
• Contract type: Temporary

• Rate of pay: up to GBP30 per hour

Your role with us

• Deliver one-to-one or tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, helping to adapt the student’s methods of learning and focusing on Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 level education.
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• Children related/Education qualification
• Possess UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours

Eligibility to apply

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Have a background in Tutoring Key stage 3 or Key Stage 4 level science
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
