KPI Education is partnering with a thriving secondary school in Bushey, Hertfordshire, to recruit a motivated Science Technician for a September 2026 start. This full-time, term-time role supports practical science delivery across Biology, Chemistry and Physics in a busy science department.

Salary is £25,000–£28,000 per annum, start date September 2026. A 2:1 STEM degree and strong organisational skills are desirable; prior lab experience is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• 2:1 degree or above in a STEM discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or similar subject.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confidence managing equipment, resources, and competing priorities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A professional, dependable, and proactive attitude.
• An interest in supporting young people and contributing to outstanding science education.
• Previous laboratory, technical, tutoring, or educational experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, apparatus, and materials for practical lessons.
• Organise chemicals and scientific resources for experiments across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
• Assist teaching staff during demonstrations and practical investigations where required.
• Ensure laboratories remain clean, organised, and fully stocked.
• Carry out routine maintenance of equipment and arrange repairs when necessary.
• Monitor inventory levels and help source new laboratory supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of chemicals, equipment, and consumables.
• Adhere to laboratory health and safety procedures, including COSHH guidance.
• Support the smooth delivery of practical assessments and examination activities.
• Help create an inspiring and safe environment where students can develop confidence in practical science.
