Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an organised Science Technician for a Basingstoke secondary school from September 2026. This full-time permanent role supports the Science Faculty across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

You will prepare equipment, assist demonstrations, manage stock, ensure health and safety compliance, and help deliver high-quality practical science experiences. A proactive, accurate approach and good teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a school laboratory or scientific environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to prepare equipment and resources for practical lessons with care.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons
  • Supporting the delivery of experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring resources are stored safely
  • Assisting staff with practical demonstrations and investigations
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering equipment and consumables
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Supporting the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the Science department

A successful and growing secondary school in Basingstoke is seeking an organised, enthusiastic and proactive Science Technician to join its dedicated Science Faculty from September 2026.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has good organisational and communication skills
  • Works accurately and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
  • Has an interest in Science and supporting student learning
  • Understands the importance of health and safety within a laboratory environment
  • Is proactive, reliable and able to manage multiple priorities

Previous experience working in a school laboratory, scientific environment or technical support role would be advantageous but is not essential.
