Job summary

Islington Secondary School is seeking a capable Science Technician to join the Science Department from October 2026. The role focuses on supporting practical lessons, keeping equipment ready, and maintaining a safe lab environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, organise resources for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and contribute to a well-run department with excellent facilities and long-term career stability.

Qualifications

• Experience in routine laboratory procedures and health and safety practices.
• Ability to support teachers and maintain a safe practical learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare practical work, experiments and demonstrations
• Organise equipment and resources for Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Set up and clear away practical activities
• Maintain laboratory equipment and report faults when necessary
• Manage Science stock and monitor consumable levels
• Prepare and store chemicals safely
• Carry out routine laboratory safety checks
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Work closely with teaching staff to support practical lessons
