Job summary

A Birmingham school is seeking a reliable, organized, and proactive Science Technician to join its busy science department. This pivotal support role ensures the smooth and safe delivery of high-quality practical lessons for students and staff.

Key duties include preparing and setting up equipment, maintaining and safe-guarding laboratory resources, advising on health and safety, managing stock, and disposing of hazardous waste in line with regulations.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS check (up-to-date) is required.
• Valid right to work in the UK.
• UK Science Degree (or overseas equivalent) essential.
• Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with science teachers to prepare and set up equipment for practical lessons.
• Safely maintain, store, and repair laboratory resources and equipment.
• Advise on safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Oversee stock levels and place orders for materials and replacements.
• Ensure safe disposal of hazardous laboratory waste.
