Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive secondary school in the High Peak area for a Science Technician , to start in September 2025 . This full- time, term- time position is ideal for someone with a science qualification or laboratory experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to enable high- quality teaching and learning.
Prepare equipment, materials and resources for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Assist teaching staff in demonstrations and during practical sessions where needed
Maintain the science laboratories, ensuring they are clean, safe, and well- stocked
Conduct routine checks on equipment and manage the safe storage and disposal of chemicals
Ensure health and safety guidelines ( e. g. COSHH) are adhered to at all times
Keep records of stock levels and liaise with suppliers to order resources when required
A qualification in science or experience working in a school lab/ technical environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Awareness of health and safety practices in laboratory settings
Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently under guidance
A dedicated and supportive Science department
A positive working environment with modern facilities
Continuous training and professional development
A strong induction and support network for new staff
