Job summary

Hans Price Academy in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Science Technician to support students in a busy secondary science environment. You will help with lab activities, maintain equipment and ensure safety and COSHH compliance.

The role is part-time (16 hours per week) during term time plus inset days, with a provisional start date of 26 October 2026. We value practical, meticulous individuals with good communication and administration skills.

Qualifications

  • Practical experience following processes and procedures.
  • Experience using, cleaning, maintaining and ensuring safety of equipment.
  • Educated to A Level standard in science or equivalent laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in science labs in a busy secondary environment.
  • Maintain and ensure safety of specialist equipment and ensure COSHH compliance.
  • Assist with administration tasks and IT systems relevant to the post.

Actual Annual Salary: £9,923 - £10,815

Based on hours and weeks worked

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £26,798 - £29,208 (CLF Grade B) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time

Hours: Part time, 16 hours per week, Term Time only plus + 5 Inset Days

Working Pattern: We can be flexible with the hours and days worked - happy to discuss at interview.

We are looking for a Science Technician to join our supportive and talented team at Hans Price Academy in Weston super Mare. We are a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.

About You
  • Practical experience of understanding and following processes and procedures.
  • Experience of using, cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring the safety of specialist equipment.
  • Educated to a minimum of A Level standard in science and/or equivalent experience in science such as laboratory experience.
  • Hold a relevant vocational qualification e.g. COSHH and/or have knowledge of safe working practices in relation to the handling and usage of hazardous equipment and tools which may include knowledge of COSHH regulations and/or CLEAPPS guidance.
  • Confident use of IT systems relevant to the post.
  • Good standard of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good general administration skills.
