Job summary

Hans Price Academy in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Pastoral Support Lead (Head of House/College Leader) to drive wellbeing and create a sense of belonging within a key student group. The role focuses on ensuring high standards of engagement, behaviour and attainment across the group and supporting families where needed.

You will monitor attendance and progress, lead interventions for vulnerable learners, and work to promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Job Title:Pastoral Support Lead (Head of House/College Leader) Actual Annual Salary:£37,774 - £40,300 - based on hours and weeks worked. Full Time Equivalent Salary:£40,958 - £43,697 (CLF Grade F) based on full time hours, all year round. Contract Type:Permanent Hours of Work:37 hours per week - Full Time, Term Time Only plus 5 insets + 3 weeks Potential Start Date:2 November 2026 – Pending completion of pre-employment checks Lead with purpose. We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Support Lead to create a culture of belonging, drive high standards and provide the care, challenge and support that enables every student to thrive. The Pastoral Support Lead (Head of House/College Leader) will lead pastoral support across a key group. You will create a sense of ‘identity and community’ and will provide a high level of care to all students by promoting wellbeing and attainment and providing support and challenge for pupils and their families. You will work proactively and preventatively to ensure students are supported to achieve and progress in their education. The successful candidate will promote the highest standards of engagement, behaviour, conduct and attitudes in all students in the group, also monitoring and supporting academic and social development across the group, undertaking interventions where appropriate to support the most vulnerable learners. About you: You will have: Qualification with behaviour and/or SEND element (e.g. NPSLBA) or other relevant qualification in behavioural support work and/or equivalent experience. Advanced knowledge of safeguarding within an educational setting. Knowledge of legislation, guidance, and relevant research which inform safeguarding practices, including low level concerns. Knowledge and understanding of current issues relevant to Inclusion and Raising Achievement. Knowledge of the academy’s legal responsibilities in monitoring attendance. Child Protection and/or Advanced Safeguarding trained, or willingness to undertake training. An appropriate First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training. Full driving licence and access to vehicle with business insurance.
