Choice Teachers are working closely with a welcoming secondary school in the Rochdale area that is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician to support its busy science department.

This role suits someone with a practical mindset who enjoys assisting with engaging science lessons and helping teachers deliver practical activities in a safe, well-organised lab.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Science Technician is desirable.
• Experience working in a school or laboratory environment would be beneficial.
• A relevant science qualification or strong scientific knowledge.
• Good organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• An understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
• A proactive, dependable and flexible approach.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Preparing equipment, chemicals and materials for science lessons.
• Setting up and clearing away practical experiments.
• Supporting teaching staff with experiments and demonstrations.
• Ensuring laboratories and preparation areas remain clean, safe and well organised.
• Managing stock levels and assisting with the ordering of supplies.
