Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Science Technician for a secondary school in Sunderland, with a start date as soon as possible. This is a relatively rare opportunity Science Technician roles don't come up often, and for the right candidate it's a genuinely rewarding position that sits at the heart of a busy, well-resourced Science department.

The role is particularly well suited to Science graduates who are considering a career in education but aren't yet ready to commit to teacher training,

Qualifications

• A degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related science discipline desirable.
• Practical knowledge of laboratory environments and procedures.
• Organised, methodical and safety-conscious approach.
• Ability to work independently and within a wider Science department team.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up equipment for Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Maintaining and organising the prep room and laboratory equipment.
• Ensuring health and safety standards are met across all practical activities.
• Supporting teachers with the delivery of practical lessons where required.
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and keeping accurate records.
• Disposing of chemicals and materials safely and in line with COSHH regulations.

This is a relatively rare opportunity Science Technician roles don't come up often, and for the right candidate it's a genuinely rewarding position that sits at the heart of a busy, well-resourced Science department.
