Job summary

Oxted School is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support practical work in science laboratories and assist teachers with engaging lessons, experiments, and demonstrations.

You will help ensure equipment and materials are ready, maintain health and safety standards and assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or equivalent) required.
• Practical knowledge or experience relevant to the role.
• Awareness of COSHH requirements.
• Strong communication and IT skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set out equipment and materials for science lessons and demonstrations.
• Support the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and equipment.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of laboratories and equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs on apparatus and stock, and replenish laboratory supplies as needed.
• Provide administrative support, including photocopying, filing, and creating displays.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

• Ability to prioritize and plan your workload effectively.
• Previous experience in a similar operational or support role is beneficial.
