Job summary

Clarence Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic Science Technician for a well-established secondary school in Leicester. You will prepare and set up equipment, support Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and help maintain safe laboratories.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a lab/educational setting.
• Qualification in Science, Laboratory Technology or related subject.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures and health & safety requirements.
• Understanding of COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Good IT and record-keeping abilities.
• Proactive and flexible approach to supporting a busy department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
• Support Biology, Chemistry, and Physics experiments across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Keep laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas tidy, clean, and safe.
• Maintain stock levels of chemicals, equipment, and consumables.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and recording laboratory supplies.
• Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of equipment.
• Ensure activities comply with health and safety and COSHH regulations.
• Store, handle, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials safely.
• Prepare resources for lessons, demonstrations, and examinations.
• Maintain records relating to equipment, inventories, and safety checks.
• Provide technical support during practical lessons as needed.
• Assist with whole-school science events, clubs, and enrichment.

Clarence Recruitment is currently seeking an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician on behalf of a well-established secondary school in Leicester. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to support a busy Science Department by ensuring laboratories, equipment, and teaching resources are prepared to the highest standard.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping students access high-quality practical science education, working across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics while maintaining a safe and efficient learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons
• Support the delivery of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics experiments across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Ensure laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas remain organised, clean, and safe
• Maintain and monitor stock levels of chemicals, equipment, and consumables
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and recording laboratory supplies
• Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of scientific equipment
• Ensure all practical activities comply with health and safety legislation and COSHH regulations
• Safely store, handle, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials
• Support teachers in preparing resources for lessons, demonstrations, and examinations
• Maintain accurate records relating to equipment, inventories, and safety checks
• Provide technical support during practical lessons where required
• Assist with whole-school science events, clubs, and enrichment activities

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:
