Job summary

Huish Episcopi Academy is seeking a organised Science Technician to join the Science department on a part-time basis. The role involves preparing and maintaining equipment and materials for practical lessons, keeping laboratories safe and well organised, and supporting day-to-day department operations.

You will have GCSEs in English, Maths and Science and strong organisational skills with attention to detail. DBS checks apply; experience is advantageous but not essential.

Huish Episcopi Academy is a large, non-selective, mixed secondary school for pupils aged 11-18. The school is very much at the heart of the Somerset Levels, with a catchment area over 200 sq. miles and community partnership with 11 local primary schools. Science Technician

13.5 hours per week | Term Time Only plus 1 week (39 weeks per year)

We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic and reliable Science Technician to join our Science department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for science and a keen eye for detail to play a vital role in supporting high-quality practical science lessons.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will prepare and maintain equipment, materials and resources for practical activities, ensure laboratories and preparation areas are safe and well organised, and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the department. The role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of health and safety.

The successful candidate will have GCSEs in English, Maths and Science (Grade 4/C or above), excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to build positive working relationships with both staff and students. Experience in a similar role or school environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
