Job summary

Avanti Grange Secondary School is seeking a Science Technician to support practical science in the Science Department. The role focuses on preparing equipment and materials for lessons, maintaining laboratories and preparation rooms, and providing day-to-day practical assistance under CLEAPSS COSHH guidance.

The post welcomes part-time applications and supports safeguarding and pupil welfare. Successful candidates will join a busy department, build professional relationships across the school,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health and safety practice, COSHH regulations and CLEAPSS guidance as they apply to laboratory work.
• Accurate and methodical, with strong attention to detail.
• Able to manage a varied workload and respond calmly to changing priorities.
• Confident communicator who works well with teaching staff and pupils.

Job description

A Science Technician post supporting practical science in the Science Department at Avanti Grange Secondary School, one of twelve schools in Avanti Schools Trust. The work centres on preparing equipment and materials for lessons, maintaining laboratories and preparation rooms, and giving day-to-day help to the department, all under CLEAPSS and COSHH guidance. It is also offered part-time, with job-share applications welcomed, at a school rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2025. Enhanced DBS clearance is required and visa sponsorship is not available.
