Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Thetford who are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science education.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and reflective approach to teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics content within the curriculum.
  • Encourage curiosity, critical thinking and scientific enquiry.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment supporting student achievement.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide feedback on student progress.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and engagement.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives.
  • Organise enrichment opportunities, STEM activities and events.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and professional development.

About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Thetford who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for a passionate Science specialist who is committed to inspiring curiosity, developing scientific understanding, and encouraging students to explore the world around them through engaging and practical learning experiences. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where students are supported to achieve their full potential.

The school prides itself on its strong community values, supportive leadership team, and commitment to providing an engaging and challenging curriculum. This role would suit an experienced Science Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inspiring Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Teach Science effectively, with the ability to deliver Biology, Chemistry, and Physics content within the curriculum
  • Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific enquiry through a range of practical and theoretical learning activities
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports student achievement
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Support students in developing both practical scientific skills and theoretical knowledge
  • Contribute to the development of the Science curriculum and department initiatives
  • Organise and contribute to enrichment opportunities, STEM activities, and educational events where appropriate
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities
  • Promote safeguarding and student welfare at all times
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing high-quality education for all learners

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science education
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
  • A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for all students
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and reflective approach to teaching and learning
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Two recent education-based references
