Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Science Teacher for a vibrant 11–18 secondary school in Birmingham. You will deliver Biology, Chemistry and Physics across KS3 and KS4, with possible KS5 for qualified candidates.

Applicants must hold QTS or PGCE in Secondary Science with a STEM degree and have a proven ability to raise attainment. The role is full-time and permanent, based in Birmingham with a supportive department and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE in Secondary Science required.
• Undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related STEM discipline required.
• Strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver GCSE-aligned lessons (AQA/Edexcel/OCR).
• Excellent classroom management and ability to raise pupil attainment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 where applicable).
• Manage practical laboratory sessions safely and effectively following safety guidelines.
• Regularly mark work, conduct diagnostic assessments, and provide constructive feedback to accelerate progress.
• Contribute to Schemes of Work, shared planning, and extra-curricular STEM activities.
