Science Teacher Job in Newport

Full-time, long-term opportunity.

Your new company

Hays is working with a secondary school in Newport with over 900 pupils to find a Science teacher. The school encourages pupils to take a proactive and creative approach to learning, allowing them to develop. The leadership team has a clear vision for the school and communicates it effectively to foster an inclusive ethos and a strong community feeling.

Your new role

Starting in September, you will be an integral part of the dedicated Science department, with responsibilities including:

  • Teaching KS3 - KS4 students
  • Nurturing a range of learning abilities
  • Participating in staff meetings
  • Attending parents' evenings
  • Carrying out pastoral responsibilities
  • Planning and preparing lessons
  • Marking and assessing students' work

This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact on the school and achieve success through your teaching.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PCET with Science experience
  • Experience teaching science in a secondary school
  • A proven track record of helping students succeed
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council
  • Hold a DBS check on the update service or be willing to obtain one
