Job description

Science Teacher (SEN)

Full time, long term

Location: Exeter

Start date: ASAP

An SEN school based in Exeter is seeking a Science Teacher to start as soon as possible. The school caters to young people across KS1-4 with additional needs, including childhood trauma, social anxiety, school phobia, Autism, ADHD, ODD, and more.

Requirements:

  • Full-time availability
  • UK QTS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning needs.
  • Establish a positive classroom environment fostering participation, collaboration, and respect.
  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform teaching strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs, providing support or challenge as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders to support student well-being and learning.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to school improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science and relevant teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), NQT, or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience teaching in a primary school setting, preferably across multiple year groups.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with children and promoting their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
