Job summary

Hays Education is seeking a reliable Science Technician for a temporary role at a Nottingham secondary school. You will prepare resources, support practical science teaching across disciplines and ensure equipment is ready for lessons.

The role offers a supportive school environment with potential for extension and progression. DBS on Update Service is preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Science-related qualifications beneficial.
• Understanding of laboratory health and safety practices.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment for science lessons and practical activities.
• Support teachers with experiments and demonstrations.
• Maintain, clean and test laboratory equipment.
• Monitor and replenish science stock and resources.
• Ensure laboratories remain safe and compliant.
• Store and dispose of chemicals in line with procedures.
• Assist with risk assessments and departmental records.
• Provide general administrative support to the Science Department.
