Job summary

Cadbury College in Birmingham is seeking a Science Technician to support the Science Department, ensuring a safe, well-equipped learning environment for students. You will prepare practicals, maintain equipment and support teachers across A Levels and BTEC courses.

You'll work term-time only (39 weeks), with focus on health and safety, COSHH compliance and laboratory organisation, helping students build practical science skills and confidence.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (grade 4/C or above) in Science, Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications
• Relevant practical science experience or technical knowledge
• Good understanding of laboratory health and safety requirements (COSHH, risk assessments)
• Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
• Good ICT skills and ability to maintain records and stock information
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and with colleagues
• An A Level, HNC or equivalent science qualification would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble, test and organise scientific equipment for practical lessons and demonstrations.
• Provide technical support including preparation of chemical solutions and biological cultures.
• Maintain clean, safe laboratories and manage stock inventories; assist with ordering chemicals and equipment.
• Ensure health and safety compliance, COSHH handling and safety checks.
