Job summary

Empowering Learning in Newham, East London is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a school science department and support high-quality teaching and learning.

You will prepare equipment and materials for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, maintain laboratories and stock, and assist teachers while upholding health and safety standards. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school science laboratory or similar practical setting (desirable).
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn health and safety requirements in a science setting.
• Proactive, flexible and a good team player.
• Good communication and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Maintain laboratories, equipment and stock, ensuring a safe and well-organised working environment.
• Support teachers during practical lessons when required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH.
• Manage ordering, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment.
