Job summary

BHASVIC in Brighton is seeking a part-time Science Assistant/Cleaner to join the busy Science Department. You will work safely as part of the team; training will be provided for laboratory tasks involving glassware and hazardous chemicals.

The role is permanent and term-time only with a pro-rata salary based on 18.5 hours per week. Working pattern includes Monday, Wednesday and Friday with options for a 5 day pattern.

Qualifications

• Some relevant experience working in a laboratory environment with glassware and hazardous chemicals is desirable however, training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and efficiently both individually and as part of the Science Department team.
• Role includes cleaning duties as part of the school facilities team.

We are seeking to appoint a Science Assistant/Cleaner who can work safely and efficiently both individually and as part of the team in our well-equipped and busy Science Department. Some relevant experience working in a laboratory environment with glassware and hazardous chemicals is desirable however, training will be provided.

Contract details:

• Permanent, 39 weeks per year (Term Time Only plus 1 day pro-rata to be worked in the holidays).
• Part time: 18.5 hours per week
• Working pattern: Monday 9am – 3 or 3:30pm, Wednesday 9am – 3:30 or 4pm, and Friday 9am – 3 or 3:30pm (optional to take 30min unpaid lunch). We could accommodate a 5 day working pattern either morning or afternoon shifts for the right candidate.
• The pro-rata salary is £10,862 per annum (based on Grade 2, spine point 6 in the Support Staff Pay Spine for which full-time salary is £25,558 per annum).
• 5.2 weeks holiday pay included in pro rata salary
