Job summary

The NSPCC Schools Service is seeking a proactive Schools Coordinator to work from home with regular travel across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. You will build links with schools, volunteers and local partners, promoting safeguarding programmes and securing bookings for Speak out. Stay safe.

and Talk Relationships. You will recruit, train and support volunteers, observe programme delivery and conduct quality assurance checks.

Responsibilities

• Build relations with schools and serve as NSPCC contact for local primary/secondary schools.
• Secure bookings for programmes such as Speak Out. Stay Safe. and Talk Relationships.
• Support volunteers delivering NSPCC work in schools.
• Recruit, train and supervise volunteers across the region.
• Visit schools to observe programme delivery and perform QA checks.
• Develop local partnerships, represent NSPCC at meetings and events.
• Build relationships with schools, local authorities and organisations to raise awareness.
• Deliver results against targets: school engagement, bookings, recruitment, service delivery.
• Plan activity, manage priorities and use data to track progress.
• Collaborate with regional teams on projects and shared initiatives.

Home-based with regular travel across the region

Could you help schools give children the knowledge and confidence to stay safe?

The NSPCC Schools Service delivers safeguarding programmes that help children recognise abuse, understand their rights and know where to get support.

As a Schools Coordinator, you will build links with schools, volunteers and local partners across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. You will promote our programmes, support schools to take part and help us reach more children and young people with important safeguarding messages.

This is a varied role, based in your local community. You will manage your own diary and work from home when you are not visiting schools, attending meetings or supporting volunteers.

Location and travel requirements:

• You must live in Herefordshire, Shropshire or Telford & Wrekin.
• We may also consider applicants who live within 10 miles of the border of one of these areas. This may include parts of Powys, Worcestershire, Staffordshire or Warwickshire.
• Regular travel is an essential part of the role. You will visit schools across the region and attend local meetings, events and volunteer activities. You will therefore need access to your own car and must be happy to travelacross a large geographical area.
• Home broadband is also essential.

What will you be doing?:

• You'll build relations with schools and be the main NSPCC contact for primary schools, secondary schools and alternative education settings in your area.
• A key part of the role will be securing bookings for programmes such as Speak out. Stay safe. and Talk Relationships.
• You'll support volunteers - our volunteers play an important role in delivering our work in schools.
• You will recruit, train and support volunteers across the region. You will provide regular supervision, coaching and feedback to help them deliver a safe and high-quality experience for children.
• You will also visit schools to observe programme delivery and complete quality assurance checks.
• You'll develop local partnerships - you will represent the NSPCC at local meetings, events and networking opportunities.
• You will build relationships with schools, local authorities and other organisations. These partnerships will help us increased awareness of our work and reach more children.
• You'll deliver results - this role involves working towards clear targets. These may include school engagement, programme bookings, volunteer recruitment and service delivery.
• You will plan your activity, manage competing priorities and use data to track progress.
• You will be part of a wider team of Schools Coordinators across the Midlands. You will also have opportunities to contribute to regional and national projects.

What skills and experience could you bring to this role?:

You may have experience in education, community engagement, safeguarding, volunteer management, account management, project delivery, sales, marketing or the voluntary sector. You will need to demonstrate:

• Experience of delivering a programme, project or service
• Experience of working towards targets or agreed outcomes
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to engage and influence different stakeholders
• Experience of supporting, recruiting or managing volunteers, or relevant transferable skills
• Good planning and organisational skills

Local knowledge of Herefordshire, Shropshire or Telford & Wrekin would be an advantage.

Working pattern

• This role is for 33.5 hours per week.
• We welcome discussion about how these hours could be worked. However, you will need to be available during school hours and attend some scheduled meetings, school visits and local events.
