School Transport Driver – Term-Time

Job summary

West Sussex County Council is recruiting for a part-time Transport Driver to provide safe and reliable transport for children and young adults. You will operate 4–16 seat vehicles across multiple locations, following schedules to ensure timely journeys and upholding high safety standards in all interactions with passengers and families.

The role requires a valid UK driving licence, with D1/PCV being desirable.

Qualifications

• Ability to drive safely and considerately in accordance with Highway Code regulations.
• Ability to communicate successfully with colleagues and passengers, build trusting relationships and exercising persuasive skills.
• Ability to resolve straightforward problems.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills gained through education or through relevant experience.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Driving licence category D1 or PCV is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient driving service to children and young adult passengers according to specified schedules.
• Drive 4–16 seat vehicles to and from various locations, safely and professionally.
• Communicate effectively with passengers, maintain high levels of service and comply with Highway Code regulations.
