Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Transport Driver to provide a safe, customer‑facing transport service for children and young adults across multiple locations from Drayton Depot near Chichester.

This casual contract offers flexible hours with pay at £13.28 per hour plus a separate annual leave element. You will handle 4–16 seat vehicles, follow schedules, and maintain high standards of safety and customer care.

Qualifications

• Ability to drive safely and considerately in accordance with the Highway Code regulations.
• Ability to communicate successfully with colleagues and passengers, build trusting relationships and exercising persuasive skills.
• Ability to resolve straightforward problems.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills gained through education or through relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient driving service to children and young adult passengers across multiple locations.
• Drive allocated 4–16 seat vehicles safely and professionally, following schedules and Highways Code.
• Communicate effectively with passengers and colleagues, building trusting relationships.
