Graduate Opportunity - School Support Worker (Ideal for Psychology or Criminology Graduates)

Location: Stevenage

Rate: £460 - £500 a week

Contract: Full-time, long-term (Mon-Fri, 8:30am - 3:30pm)

Are you a recent Psychology or Criminology graduate eager to gain real-world experience working with young people? Are you passionate about mental health, behaviour, and supporting vulnerable students in the education and training sector?

This School Support Worker role in Stevenage is a fantastic first step for graduates interested in careers in educational psychology, youth justice, counselling, mental health, or social care.

  • Build hands-on experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, such as ADHD, Autism, and communication challenges.

  • A recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people, especially those with additional mental health or behavioural needs as a School Support Worker.
  • Some experience (paid or voluntary) in youth work, support work, or education is beneficial-but not essential.
  • A team player who is empathetic, patient, and committed to helping students thrive.
  • Based in or able to commute to Stevenage reliably.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis to help them engage with learning in the education and training sector.
  • Assisting in the delivery of tailored learning and behavioural support plans.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs to create a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment.
  • Providing emotional and pastoral support to help students develop self-confidence and resilience.
