Job summary

Pertemps Network Catering is seeking an Assistant Building Services Supervisor to support day‑to‑day management of a school site in Birmingham. You will work closely with the Building Services Supervisor to maintain buildings, grounds and facilities, ensuring health and safety compliance and a welcoming environment for students and staff.

The role focuses on hands-on maintenance, basic repairs, contractor supervision, security, and event setup.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within facilities management, building maintenance, caretaking, or site services.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
• Flexible approach to working hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site.
• Carry out basic repairs, maintenance, and decorating tasks.
• Support the supervision of contractors working on site.
• Help ensure the security of the premises, including opening and closing the school.
• Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any concerns.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance schedules.
• Support setting up rooms and facilities for school events, meetings, and activities.
• Monitor site cleanliness and standards across the buildings and grounds.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
